You always receive specific written instructions with your appointment confirmation \u2014 these are the general rules.<\/p><table class=\"mcs-table\"><thead><tr><th>Situation<\/th><th>What to do<\/th><\/tr><\/thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>Fasting<\/strong><\/td><td>12 hours for all metabolic, lipid and micronutrient profiles and for breath tests. Still water is allowed.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Time of the blood draw<\/strong><\/td><td>In the morning for cortisol, testosterone, \u201cage\u201d hormones and stress profiles: these values follow a marked circadian rhythm.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Menstrual cycle<\/strong><\/td><td>Fertility and PCOS: days 2 to 5. Female hormone balance: luteal phase. Always state the date of your last period.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Supplements<\/strong><\/td><td>Stop 3 days before micronutrient testing. Biotin interferes with many hormone and thyroid assays: always stop it.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Antibiotics<\/strong><\/td><td>No stool or breath test within 4 weeks of finishing a course of antibiotics.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Probiotics<\/strong><\/td><td>Stop 2 weeks before any microbiome analysis.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Food intolerances<\/strong><\/td><td>Keep to your usual diet: cutting out suspect foods beforehand distorts the result.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Breath test<\/strong><\/td><td>Preparatory diet the day before, 12-hour fast. Duration on site: 2\u20133 hours. Do not smoke on the morning of the test.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Saliva<\/strong><\/td><td>Collected at fixed times on the same day. No coffee, alcohol, smoking or tooth brushing during the hours indicated.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Heavy metals<\/strong><\/td><td>No fish or seafood in the preceding 3 days.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Hair<\/strong><\/td><td>Hair not chemically treated in the preceding 6 weeks.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>ColoAlert<\/strong><\/td><td>Do not perform during menstruation or if you have bleeding haemorrhoids.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Ongoing treatment<\/strong><\/td><td>Never stop a treatment on your own initiative.
