Platelet-rich plasma is prepared from the blood of the person who receives it.<\/strong> It is not a catalogue product and it is not suitable for everyone: it is used on precise indications, and the indication comes from a diagnosis.<\/p>\n

Who performs it<\/h2>\n

Dr Stefano Negrini<\/strong>, FMH specialist in Urology and in Surgery. The work covers andrological and urological indications, cutaneous and hair-related indications, and the repair of scars.<\/p>\n

What it is, and how it is prepared<\/h2>\n

A small quantity of blood is drawn, as for a laboratory test. The sample is centrifuged to separate the platelet-rich plasma fraction, which is then applied at the indicated site. The preparation is made at the time, for that single person, under medical responsibility, and is not stored.<\/p>\n

The Centre uses one device and one protocol<\/strong> across all areas. This is not a technical detail: it is what makes results comparable over time and every session traceable, with the device batch recorded in the clinical file.<\/p>\n

The indications, and what the studies say<\/h2>\n

The evidence is not the same for every indication. Distinguishing what is demonstrated from what is still promising is part of the diagnosis, and it is said in consultation beforehand, not afterwards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Androgenetic alopecia<\/strong><\/td>\nThe indication with the best evidence. A 2025 systematic review of 43 randomised trials and about 1,800 participants reports an increase in hair density and a reduction in shedding compared with placebo, with moderate-quality evidence. No significant effect on hair shaft thickness emerged.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Scars, outcomes and skin quality<\/strong><\/td>\nPositive results, but obtained in small series and with short follow-up.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Female sexual dysfunction and stress incontinence<\/strong><\/td>\nA 2023 systematic review of 12 studies, only one of them randomised, rates the level of evidence as low and calls for randomised trials.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Vulvar lichen sclerosus<\/strong><\/td>\nCase reports, small cohorts and pilot studies. A randomised trial protocol published in 2025 states that the available evidence is not sufficient to recommend clinical use. First-line treatment remains another, topical corticosteroid, and clinical surveillance continues in every case.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

A medical indication and an aesthetic indication are not the same thing<\/h2>\n

Hair loss with a hormonal or nutritional cause, a scar that limits movement, a chronic vulvar condition are medical problems, and must be assessed and documented as such. A purely aesthetic request is something else, both clinically and in regulatory terms. In consultation the distinction is made explicitly and it goes into the report.<\/p>\n

When we do not propose it<\/h2>\n

When the diagnosis points elsewhere, when the cause of the problem lies somewhere else and must be treated first, when the available evidence does not justify the person’s expectation, when there are haematological or infectious contraindications. The report says that too.<\/p>\n

Before and after the session<\/h2>\n

The first consultation includes history, physical examination and the laboratory tests required, performed in the Centre’s own laboratory. Every session is preceded by written informed consent and followed by a scheduled review. The full pathway, the number of sessions foreseen and the cost are set out in writing before starting.<\/p>\n
