At Medical Center Sorengo aesthetics begins where everything else begins: with a diagnosis. The same first consultation, the same in-house laboratory, the same written report and the same medical service on duty at night as every other discipline in the building.
Three FMH specialists and three areas: plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery, autologous regenerative medicine and functional gynaecological medicine. In two areas out of three the starting point is a symptom, not a mirror. Understand first, correct later.
Our aesthetic medicine: a medical consultation, not a sales appointment
In aesthetics people get used to choosing the treatment first and looking for a doctor to perform it afterwards. Here the order is reversed: we start from the diagnosis, and only then do we discuss what to do.
Our approach is built on:
The first consultation is a medical examination
Medical history, physical examination, measurements and clinical photographs where they are useful. The consultation carries a fee and ends with a written report setting out the diagnosis, the proposed indication or the absence of one, and what is and is not known about the expected benefit.
The whole, not the detail
Patients arrive pointing at a wrinkle, a scar, an area. The consultation looks at the whole: skin quality and thickness, tissue tone, volumes and proportions, facial movement, the outcome of previous procedures, and the general conditions that affect healing. The indication comes from there, and at times it concerns a different point from the one raised. When a test is needed, from coagulation before an injectable treatment to ferritin in the face of hair thinning, the laboratory is in the same building.
Some consultations end with a no
There is no price list to fill, so there is nothing that has to be sold. When the expected result does not justify the risk, when the timing is not right, when the request comes from a distress that aesthetics does not resolve, there is no indication. The report says so too, with the reasons.
Every treatment leaves a record
For every session we record the date, the doctor, the product, the device and the batch, the signed informed consent and the outcome of the checks. Complications are explained before starting, put in writing and managed here. After a procedure or a treatment the on-call Medical and Nursing Service answers, available 24 hours a day in the same building and with access to the file.

The first consultation
and the written report
A first consultation always begins with the medical history and the current medication, continues with the physical examination and the laboratory tests required, and ends with a report handed to the patient. If the case has been discussed with a colleague from another discipline in the Centre, the report says so.
No treatment begins on the day of the first consultation, except in clinical urgency: between the diagnosis and the decision there has to be time to think it over. The estimate is written, with the number of sessions expected and the follow-up visits included.

Aesthetics here is not a separate institute: it is one of the Centre’s disciplines, with the same first consultation, the same clinical file and the same standards as the others. When the answer is not aesthetic, the colleague is down the corridor and not in another city.

In-house laboratory and Advanced Diagnostics
Baseline tests are run on site. When the picture is not clear, the pathway continues with the functional, hormonal and genetic profiles of Advanced Diagnostics, without changing provider and without starting over.
Technology enters on an indication
This discipline started with the doctors. Equipment enters when an indication brings it, with a named doctor responsible and a reason in writing: the same criterion that applies to every other device in the building. It is not a position against technology, it is the order in which we believe decisions should be taken.
Understand first, correct later
From plastic surgery to chronic conditions of the genital area, every pathway begins with a diagnosis and an honest answer about what it is reasonable to expect. Sometimes the answer is a treatment, sometimes a medical therapy that has nothing to do with aesthetics, sometimes it is that there is nothing to be done right now.
We do not publish before-and-after galleries, we do not sell packages by number of sessions and we do not run time-limited offers. In medicine the result cannot be guaranteed, and we prefer to say so in advance.
